this is a wonderful quote

Lighting and flowers

November 30, 2008

I have never seen chrysanthemums like this in the flesh, only in japanese drawings and decorative designs. So I thought I would capture them before they shriveled up and died!! Trying to photograph them though was a real trial, first battery run out, then flash wouldn’t fire off camera. So these were done with small directional halogen spot bulb in varying styles  Where there is a will there is always a way, thats what my mum always told me anyway!!  She was right, they didnt come out as bad as I had imagined.

A wonderful Life

November 28, 2008

What kind of future do I envision for myself? What kind of self am I trying to develop? What do I want to accomplish in my life?” The thing is to paint this vision of your life in your heart as specifically as possible. That “painting” itself becomes the design of your future.

The creative mind

November 27, 2008

Its where the impossible and the possible meet, collide, unite, repel, reform and grow.  Thoughts rise like balloons, floating and playful, growing and dancing in the endless ether of to the mind.  Visiions growing, bubbling up like white fluffy clouds, letters falling like rain, swirling in the breeze until words, then sentances echo in the void.   Where will it take me today, to a land where rivers run with chocolate? , where pixies play their flutes amidst flora and fuana and picnic with tiny lost children, whilst giant footsteps appear like portals through to a world so vivid, so glaringly colourful that I need sunglasses to see. Swirling shapes, bubbles carrying theories, equations, poems, smiles,  visions teasing and allluring  until one bursts and envelops the brain cells with warm glistening inspiration.  Voices, sweet song, happy laughter, sobbing tears filling massive oceans, stern commanding sounds sending endless orders to perform the impossible.

Work hard, fast, perfections in all things, get started, quick, quick, heart beating loud, wheels turning, cogs clonking, rockets firing, a maze of complexities, concavaties, convexities, churning and churning until the pressure  bursts. Explodes into life forms, cascading dreams drip endlessly  over ever hungry tentacles that suck and draw the energy within.  An energy voice that plugs into the universe.

This is what goes on in my creative mind, what goes on in yours?the-creative-mind

Paper surge

November 23, 2008

So much swirls in my head, sparks fly off here and there, and feel the need to express them somehow.  Saturday afternoon, after walking, coffee and seeing off Seanpaul on the train, I really felt the urge to try and express something that really resonates with me, but in a new form, paper cutting.  I first came across this in China , when I visited many years ago, that’s another story for another day ( travels on Trans siberian railway, setting of from Moscow the day after Chenobyl disaster in April/May 1986 !)  Anyway, papercutting has always intrigued me, so I thought I would try my own version, a cross between, paper scultpture, cutting and silhouettes.  Very happy with my first attempt, although I can see there is much room for improvement!!

A cold and windy Saturday morning, a stuffy head to clear, nothing better than a walk in the park, Dunorlan Park to be exact, and feed the ducks and geese with my friend Seanpaul.  He can be seen feeding a greylag goose with the remains of mouldy Cranks wholemeal loaf!!  Wonderful bread !seanpaul-dunorlan-park

Renee Lalique

November 21, 2008

I recently visited the Musee D’orsay and was spellbound by the Art Nouveau collection, especially the intricate and exquisitely detailed work of Renee Lalique. The images I took of these two pieces really illustrate his amazingly detailed work.

red-table1wow, a first.  An image from my flickr was chosen to appear in a tourist guide for  Amsterdam.  Went there for a cool weekend with my dear friend Pete.  Spent the day viewing Andy warhol exhibition.  He has to be one of my all time inspirations in more ways than one, film footage, photography, imagery of all kinds, it just kept coming……one cool dude.  This exhibition is now on at the southbank, click image to go to website.  Lady with bushy hairdo is me!

food aviation

me, I eat with my eyes, what do you eat with?  not only does it have to taste good but it has to be a visual pleasure and delectable  Thats the trouble with designers, sometimes the need for perfection can go just a little too far.

just yesterday ventured down to Farnborough in Hampshire, not the usual place for gourmet delights, but a little research required for a project I am working on, emergency lighting would you believe!!  The newly opened Aviator Hotel the venue, so thought I would sample the restaurant while I was there.

Food was excellent and I thoroughly recommend it, not only did it get the taste buds rocking it looked a treat in more ways than one.
