fifty thousand and growing
March 12, 2010
Today my flickr account reached 50,ooo hits, amazing I cant believe it……….
When I first started all my images where photographic, but then my creativity took another path and the images turned to my artwork. Its been an incredible creative journey and interesting to see how its developed over the time since I joined.
Now the the number, its seem a lot of people hitting my site, most of them and a massive percentage are hitting my paper cut images. Dark Night the cat woman holding aloft skulls on the candelbra with a skirt full of secrets being the most hit image of all. Then come the images of the flowers that formed my paper cut gardens……. incredible really never thought at the time they would be so popular.
Then of course came the shoes, I have to say of all the paper pieces I have done they are among my favourites, they were the start of a massive ancestral journey.
I love the way my 50000 turned out, used illustrator and decorative brush to paint my number, a lovely rounded number that is still growing……………
Its official: swollen battery syndrome :( Oh no !
March 9, 2010

I awoke on Friday morning to find my precious laptop had swollen………………. something deep inside her was growing, was she pregnant I thought? The battery housing plate was being forced up in a huge curve and the top plate surrounding the keyboard was being prized off by this alien being swelling inside… google the findings, rang my Mac man. It was official my 17″ Macbook Pro has swollen battery system. This phenomena has hit many, many 17″ Pros, it starts with sudden cut outs, and battery charging symbol not recognising the charger, all of the symptoms mine carried. Then if left comes the full blow out.
However, on visiting the Genius Bar in Regent street today, they replaced the battery and top plate without any qualms whatsoever…………. what a relief. So I am back tapping away, lap top bought back to optimum health. One happy bunny!
The Garden of Plenty

The divine feminine, mother earth, the dark magical mysteries that lie under the earth. Feminine receptive energies where time is circular.
A lot of my work is inspired by this very powerful imagery. So I though it as time to balance the energies, masculine thrusting energy that propels itself forward in the world and keeps everything in balance, the yin and yang, the light and the dark, the sun and the moon

The colour RED – R.I.P
February 15, 2010
Have been thinking and working with red on a current interior project, its such a beautiful creative colour, its vibrancy so energising, so uplifting and enriching.
Red is blood, its velvety rich smoothness……….. Its there when we are born, it symbolises passion, sex, sin, pain, anger and guilt, red with the blood of murder, the bible says in Isiah “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow”. We can get caught “red handed”, or visit the “red light” district. We see red when angry, Apparently research has born out that men find women more attractive if they are wearing red. Its the colour of Mars, a valentines heart, a robin red breast, a red rose, its red ripe fruit oozing syrupy juices signalling its readiness to be devoured. We can be “red blooded” virile, powerful, unstoppable. Its the colour of royality, velvet and ermine cloaks, red cushioned throne. Red was used by Alexander McQueen is his fall 2009 collection show in Paris to much aclaim, may you rest R.I.P

I will not die an unlived life
December 9, 2009
Hot pinks and reds are favourites at the moment, love the vibrant energy waves these colours emit. Have been playing at patterns again, this one is from a drawing that I illustrated a poem with. A beautiful poem that touched my soul and forms the essence of my being.
I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

Mr Kapoor’s work – just in case you don’t get to go see the Anish Kapoor exhibition
November 20, 2009
I sauntered around Anish Kapoor’s exhibition last Sunday at the Royal Academy, London, rather amazed and wowed by the colour and scale of it all. However as the days have gone by, and now its Friday, I cannot seem to get the “red” out of my mind especially the huge leviathan that glides so slowly that you don’t even realise its moving……… Its blood, its pain, anger, anguish, sorrow and oh so SILENT. Is it the pain and suffering in the world that we choose not to notice as we go about sleepwalking in our daily life. Or is the red congealed petroleum jelly / wax/ blood train shaped like a giant loaf of bread really our “daily bread” is this what we are being fed by the media onslaught…….. Oh gosh I could go on with some totally over the top metaphors that would be unprintable here, my creative mind gone wild

the wild masculine
October 28, 2009
Mmmm he stands proud, a jaguar draped across his shoulders. Its no surprise I felt the need to surround him by horses, they respresent Power, grace, beauty, strength, wildness and freedom. He represents the masculine energy in us all. The bronze statue ‘Orpheus’ by Astrid Zydower, is larger than life and stands in the grounds of Harewood House just outside Leeds, Yorkshire. Orpheus was the greatest musician and poet of Greek myth, whose songs could charm wild beasts and coax even rocks and trees into movement. His magnificence radiates from this image. I put together the image with sky recently taken in malta, the land of the divine feminine, there are so many temples to the goddess here, it compelled me to produce a “balancing” image
she died so young – shoe no.9
October 25, 2009
this shoe is for my great grandmother ADA, she died long before I was born at the age of 34. How sad, she left five beautiful children, one of whom was my grandfather. The shoe is elegant, as she is in the photograph I have of her taken in St Petersburg, Russia around the turn of the century. This shoe seems more solid, its the first “complete” shoe, by that I mean it has a heel and and is fully enclosed. Again I printed my pattern using Ada’s photograph and printed it onto white tissue paper, everything is handmade in paper. You can see my collection of hand made paper shoes here http://www.flickr.com/photos/8853574@N03/sets/72157622409764848
