The Year of the Flood

atwood_flood_uk_pbWho would believe I  am immersed in a book, a book of fiction!  unheard of for many a year.  Books I read are always non-fiction, factual, history, spiritual, philosophy, biographies.  I believe that nothing happens by chance, so padding across the floor in my villa, dripping wet from a dip in the pool, I noticed a large basket full of books and felt drawn to look, the first book I plucked out looked interesting, THE YEAR OF THE FLOOD by Margaret Atwood.   Immediate thoughts were read it, just sit back down in the sunshine and start reading, So I did.

I am just over half way, I can’t say its a book I cannot put down, or that its scintillating, but it is quite mesmerizing, not really science fiction, I would have put it down immediately, but its more a about a speculative view of what our would could become. How the corporations are hellbent in destroying everything I hold dear in my life.   Like Jeanette Winterson’s review says “it’s not prophecy, but is eerily possible.

Being a lover of nature and growing veg, Gods Gardeners, their views, ceremonies and ethos resonates in some way, it is drawing me in, I am reading this for a reason, sure there is a gift here, it will come to me, with less than half still read, I am intrigued as to why this book turned up for me right now.  Could be its going to tell me this is why you don’t read non-fiction so you were on the right track all the time !!  who knows

LIVING ENERGY HEALING

are pleased to announce

An initiatory five workshop series in Malta

from April 2009 to April 2011

“THE WAY OF THE SHAMAN”

It is the Time to Honour and give deep gratitude for this Earth and our Lives.  Time for us to stand up and step into the vision of the life we have been dreaming of from a place of power, love, gratitude and wisdom.

An opportunity to feel truly alive

The Shaman operates at the level of spirit, the level of pure energy, working with the luminous energy field that surrounds and informs the body.  In this course we will learn how to operate at this level too and thus we will gain access to the matrix of the Universe of living energies and be able to weave for ourselves and others wonderful new worlds of our becoming.

Throughout this course we will seek to connect with our inner guidance to ask important personal questions, to ask for healing and help in our life and receive practical spiritual wisdom in return. The course takes us through a process of personal development and empowerment, where ultimately we can become self-referencing human beings.

Ground-breaking shamanic teacher and practitioner Michael Harner once wrote:

‘People say that what we are all seeking is the meaning for life.

I don’t think that this is what we’re really seeking, I think what we’re seeking is an experience of being Alive.’

The Medicine Wheel as a framework for the workshops

The Medicine Wheel, originally a Native American conceptualisation, with its focus on the four cardinal directions of south, west, north and east, provides an excellent framework for our workshops.  In Peru, the ancient Inka capital city called Cusco, was known as the belly of the empire and it was built as the hub of a great wheel, the spokes of which radiated in all four directions.

The Inka constructed this extraordinary and beautiful city as a living metaphor and symbol of the world of universal energies – in this course we too learn to work with our own Cusco (or cosco in the ancient and still-living language of the Inkas) and how to understand ourselves as the hub of a great wheel of creation, spanning out in all directions, connecting to the living energies of all things.

Many of the traditions originating in Peru reflect this approach and we have found this the best way of teaching this path.

A Series of Five workshops

Each workshop focuses on the practices and teachings of a different direction.  In the final, fifth workshop scheduled for April 2011 we will bring all the teachings and practices of the Medicine Wheel together into an integrated whole.  It represents the end of one journey and the stepping off onto another, preparing us beautifully for the time to come, the Taripaypacha as the Inka named the period after 2012 – the Time of Meeting Ourselves Again.  Our True Selves

abundance – paper cut / sculpture

abundance, I love that word it conjures up so much in my mind…………  picture no 3, the tree is now in the fullness of its green summer coat and the fruits of the  pollinated  flowers are beginning to grow.  Mother earth is working hard now and is in full flow……..tree-abundance-3tree-abundance-3-detail

Awakening – paper cut / sculpture

this is no 2 in the series, when the day light lengthens and mother awakens from slumber, slowly new life begins its upward journey from the darkness, shoots burst through the soil and buds burst open upon the tree, like white frothy lace adorning the the branches,tree-awakening-2tree-awakening-2-detail

Slumber – paper cut / sculpture

since my previous posting I have been hard at it with scalpel, my new scissors and reams of paper !…………………..   this one is the first in series of 4 trees, all reflecting the cycles of life.  This first one is the winter, when mother earth rests in deepest slumber.  The day light hours are short while she takes stock and replenishes herself in readiness for the vigours of spring.
