some bounty at last

It has been such a chilly summer so far, yes couple of peaks, but last couple of weeks my poor veggies have been tossed and turned in a chilly wind, cold days and even colder nights.  In fact the start of the growing season so a cold wind too and I thought I had lost many of my plants, however, they have all survived and beginning to offer some friutage ! Courgettes, Rainbow chard, Kale, sweetpeas, Tomatos, marigolds, nasturtiom, salad leaves, pea shoots.  Runnerbeans and aubergines are on their way as are chillies and french and Borlotti

Its been a busy time all around, lots  of reading, sewing , writing and working !! so, so busy at work……….

Full to bursting with ideas

Ideas of all “kinds” have been racing around in that head of mine, from creation myths to creating huge interior projects and drawing out designs or my new quilting obsession.

Its been awhile since I posted anything, I have been sewing, reading, writing , researching and getting ready for the workshop I am facilitating in Malta  with two dear friends,

A fruitful time in many ways, designing and detailing an interior design project thats being installed in March, and another in Leamington spa which is the most amazing building see here .  Then I have been sewing my first large bed size quilt.  Up to now have been practicing on small items, lap quilts, sewing accessories for the kitchen and amassing fabric!

In between all this activity it was my birthday, a very special day indeed, felt very loved by my two children and all my friends.

Here is a pictorial diary of the last weeks…………….  Off to Malta Tuesday, so no posts for week !

A picture paints many stories

on my way to work this morning, this little trio on my dining table caught me eye,  they all tell a story in their own right, it just seemed strange they just landed there together,  captured in time now on my iphone.

The white roses were bought for me last Friday, it had been a really full on week, had just got in and making a cuppa when came a knock on the door,   A  beatiful bunch of white roses thrust in my hands,  the stress melted away, and a warmth flowed, someone cared, and that felt really good

the Dr Hofmann, figure, is one of my collectable toys, I bought this back in 2006, after I had completed the Hoffman Process, a week that literally changed my life.  They are not at all connected though, Dr Hofmann is a street artist ad the Hoffman process is a week long residential course where you get to use a baseball bat to great affect !!!  But I feel they were made for each other.

The image, is a page from vogue magazine dated 1962, I bought this at a vintage fare I attended over the weekend. the colours of pink and black look so striking I couldn’t resist.  In 1962 I was 13 years old, life was ahead of me, and looking back wow, what a life.  A real roller coaster of extreme highs and extreme lows. I feel I am on a new journey now and the Hoffman Process was a catalyst for this change   So much has happened to me, so much has been unearthed, forgiven and let go off, the process of transformation is still in the making but in my bones it feels good……………

Working under pressure, why do I need deadlines

The deadline is getting close, the pressure is on , i have flowers coming out of my ears.  Why is it I do best under pressure? I have had months to get this project off the ground, all the ideas percolating around inside until I come up with something that just “feels right”.   With the deadline looming I am forced to make a decison and when I do I feel a mixture or elation and peace.  My body acts out what my heart is telling me, this is the one!!!!!!  this is it, a real sense of calm and wellbeing resides, the anxiety of getting it right subsides and off I go, it all seem quite effortless once I start.

I adore roses, so its no surprise that my hands have cut, crimped and glued many today!!  They look so fragile but at the same time so robust!!, there heady perfume and profuse flowering habits fill me with joy.  My favourite perfume which I wear all he time is Rose Absolue.  It is said the Cleopatra laid a thick carpet 2 feet thick of rose petals for a banquette given for Mark Anthony………..

I am also filling some perspex boxes with a swarm of butterflys, about 350 in all.  Then three large trees, one tree per perspex box.  Oh my get a move on CAROL……. no time to write blogs 🙂
